WMATA celebrated the opening of its new $350M Potomac Yard Station on May 19, 2023. The in-fill station includes new tracks, a pedestrian bridge, and two pavilions. It is also one of the first rail stations in North America to receive a LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
K&J was instrumental in this project coming to fruition by providing Safety and Security Certification (SSC) expertise throughout design, construction, testing, and operational readiness. The team was led by Mr. Tim Pernie, who was recognized by WMATA’s Board of Directors for his exceptional project management and SSC support.
The station is fully operational and the K&J team continues to finalize the closeout of the project and provide support to other WMATA SSC projects.
